STEP Students and Customizable Internships: Meet your new "Commercialization Assistant" STEP graduate students are required to write a thesis based on a real-world project that is generally part of an extended internship with researchers, companies, or early-stage investment firms. Most STEP students are able to work any time of year (i.e., not limited to summers) because most STEP classes are taught in the evening and the curriculum is flexible. The main focus of the internship is to develop a wide range of entrepreneurial opportunities, including:
The duration of a student's involvement in a project will range from 2 months to 2 years. Progress and deliverables are usually monitored by a mentor within the sponsoring organization, along with a STEP representative. The student's stipend and tuition is paid through various methods, such as direct pay from the partner, research grant, Case financial aid, or scholarship. Other arrangement such as equity and intellectual property may be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. Students will work both individually and in teams. | |
